The Houses of Baghdad  
 

The ancient people of Iraq lived in nature, which made them thinking all the time to find a way that help them to live in something like houses.

The ancient people inhabited there ,they made their shelters from caves then the idea developed to the establishing of houses, villages and cities.

In Islamic era they built mosques, a treasure house, emirate house, soldiers house and leaders house, the houses at that time were simple, empty from windows , the houses were enlightened with the light of the sun that came from outside , that type of building continued till the 2nd world war.

The houses of Baghdad according to the Hera style -a style of desigining houses -were composed of a suite that surrounded by two rooms or more, that system was famous in the past time in Iraq .

In Samara, many houses had been discovered which surrounded by ornamented gypsum, that style transffered to Egypt in Ahmed ben Tolon era ,those houses were composed of one floor surrounded by many rooms , kitchen, water closet, also there was a cellar and fountain to wet the weather inside the house ,they used bricks in the building of houses.
